First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos led the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of three facilities at the Clark Multi-Specialty Medical Center (CMSMC) in Pampanga on July 10, 2024, marking a significant moment in the present administration’s initiative to enhance nationwide healthcare accessibility and quality.
The project involves a collaborative effort with stakeholders such as the Bloomberry Cultural Foundation, Inc. (BCFI), which funds the P1.0-billion Children’s Medical Center, a P1.0-billion allocation from the Department of Health (DOH) for the Renal Building, and P0.985 billion from Clark Development Corporation (CDC) for the Medical Arts Building.
Considered a priority project of President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr., the CMSMC is a flagship healthcare institution with a 1,200-bed capacity, located on a 5.7-hectare property along Prince Balagtas Avenue within the Clark Freeport Zone, forming part of a master-planned Medical Campus dedicated to Pediatrics, Cardiology, Renal Diseases, and Oncology.
CMSMC will also house specialized centers like the Heart Center and the six-storey Renal Building, whose construction is being funded by the DOH and will be supervised by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Regional Office III.
DPWH Region 3 Assistant Director Melquiades Sto. Domingo, representing Regional Director Roseller Tolentino at the event, emphasized that when completed, the project is expected to improve and expand medical services throughout the region to meet advanced medical care needs and address public health concerns.
“The start of the construction of CMSMC’s Renal Building is a significant step in advancing top-tier medical services and enhancing health across Central Luzon, underscoring our unwavering commitment to ensuring its timely completion and improving access to healthcare quality,” Sto. Domingo elaborated.
The Renal Building, with a total floor area of 10,600 square meters, is scheduled for completion in 18 months and will initially accommodate 110 beds, with capacity expandable to 272 beds.
Sto. Domingo was joined by Planning and Design Division Chief Arthur Santos in the groundbreaking rites.#
