Bulacan promotes good nutrition through all life stages

CITY OF MALOLOS – The Province of Bulacan is determined to promote good nutrition through all life stages as Gov. Daniel R. Fernando and Vice Gov. Alexis C. Castro recently launched the observance of Nutrition Month with healthy, nutrition-related activities.

Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office jampacked the whole calendar of July with various  massive information dissemination campaigns including monitoring of nutrition month activities for local government unit counter parts, nutrition program implementers and volunteers; provincewide hanging of IEC materials promoting good nutrition; posting on the PGB official website; celebrating good nutrition days with senior citizens, persons with disability, pregnant women, adults and children at the day care centers, schools and communities.

 

It also includes live streaming every Thursday on Radyo Kapitolyo, conduct of Mutya ng Buntis Season 8 on July 24 which advocates the first 1,000 days of life; Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) program; conduct of National Disability Rehabilitation Week (Basta Bulakenya, Kahit may “K” OK!) via Zoom on July 17; and Disability Sensitivity Training with Orientation on Issuance of PWD ID and 10 Types of Disability on July 23.

 

Further, the “Ngiti Mo, Sagot Namin: Free Harelip and Cleft Palate Operation for Bulakenyos” Year 21 schedules are on July 1- 14 for Recruitment, July 15-21 for Screening, July 22 for Admission, July 23 – 24 for Free Harelip and Cleft Palate Operation and August 6 for Post Op Check-up.

 

The celebration will culminate on July 30 with the recognition of achievements and outstanding performance of nutrition advocates such as Barangay Health Workers, Lingkod Lingap sa Nayon, and Municipal Nutrition Action Office in the province.

 

Meanwhile, Fernando stressed the importance of proper nutrition for children.

 

“Ang mabuting nutrisyon ay ang pundasyon ng kaligtasan at pag-unlad ng bata. Ito ay makatutulong sa kanilang paglaki at pag-aaral, atin dapat silang alagaang mabuti para sa kanilang kinabukasan bilang pag-asa ng lalawigan at bansa,” the governor said.
