CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga — A total of 1,000 residents from Lubao town in Pampanga benefitted from the P5-million worth of emergency employment given by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).
Under the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program, they were tasked to perform cleaning works in their respective communities such as cleaning canals and drains to prevent flooding and eliminate mosquito breeding grounds.
Each recipient got P5,000 for rendering a 10-day work service.
During the payout, Governor Dennis Pineda encouraged TUPAD beneficiaries not to share their hard-earned rewards but to direct them towards their families.
“The TUPAD program is proof of the government’s relentless support to those who have lost their jobs. The money you received is yours alone. If anyone asks you for a percentage, do not give them. You worked hard for that so that should go straight to your family,” Pineda said.
Before starting their work assignments, TUPAD beneficiaries underwent thorough orientation to ensure their preparedness and safety.
DOLE Pampanga Provincial Office collaborated with local government units in the conduct of these sessions.
The TUPAD program is one of DOLE’s strategies to attain inclusive growth through massive job generation and poverty reduction.
It is defined as a community-based package of assistance that provides emergency employment for displaced, underemployed, and seasonal workers for a period of 10 to 30 days.
