Angeles City hailed as a child-friendly city

ANGELES CITY — The city government here under the leadership of Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. has received the Seal of Child-Friendly Local Governance in the 2022 Child-Friendly Local Governance Audit.

Angeles City garnered a 92.46 rating in the said audit ranking, placing it 14th among all the local government units in Central Luzon.

Ever since Mayor Lazatin took office in 2019, children’s welfare has been a priority program of the city government.

Back in 2019, Lazatin initiated the continuous city-wide reach-out operations to homeless children as the city government aims to provide decent shelter to street kids.

Mayor Lazatin strengthened the said program last 2022 as a way to fight mendicancy in the city.

One of the main battlecries of Mayor Lazatin is “No Angeleño youth will be left behind in terms of education”. With this, the city government provided free school supplies and gear to all public school students and day care learners in the city.

“Patuloy ko pong bibigyan ng pansin ang kapakanan ng mga batang Angeleño dahil naniniwala ako na sila ang magiging malaki at importanteng parte ng ating hinaharap,” Lazatin said.

Lazatin also acknowledged the tireless efforts of the City Social Welfare and Development Office, headed by Edna Duaso, in implementing programs that ensure the welfare of every Angeleño child.
