SINABI ng Department of Health (DoH) na inaantay na lamang ang go-signal ng Food and Drug Administration (FDA) para ibaba ang second booster shot na bakuna kontra Covid-19 para sa mga health workers, senior citizens at mga mayroong comorbidities.
Oras na ibaba ng FDA ang go-signal at guidelines ay maaari nang isagawa ang pagbabakuna ng second booster sa huling bahagi ng buwan ng Abril o sa unang bahagi ng buwan ng Mayo.
“The DoH in communication with the FDA is still under the process of amending the EUA (emergency use authorization) of the vaccines to accommodate the immunocompromised and elderly population for a possible fourth dose or second booster,” ayon sa ipinalabas na pahayag ng nasabing ahensiya.
Nais ng Health department na i-aprub ng FDA ang amyenda ng EUA for Covid-19 vaccines sa rekomendasyon ng Vaccine Expert Panel.
The Health Technology Assessment Council “is also set to review and provide recommendations on the matter,” ayon sa ahensiya.
“The vaccines that the vulnerable population has so far received need to be strengthened with an additional dose to protect them against new Covid variants,” ayon kay Health Undersecretary Myrna Cabotaje.
Aniya, base sa pag-aaral, ang fourth dose ay mapo-protektahan ang tao na mayroon high risk ng severe illness.
Mayroon ding panukala na magkaroon ng apat na buwang palugit sa pagitan ng ikatlo at ikaapat na dosis, aniya.
