2024 crime rate in CL decreases by 4.31%

Camp Olivas, Olivas, City of San Fernando, Pampanga – The crime rate in Central Luzon decreased by 4.31% in the past year 2024 compared to the year 2023.

According to PRO3 Director PBGen Redrico Maranan, a total of 37,514 crime incidents were recorded from January 1 to December 31, 2024 – 1,689 incidents or 4.31% less compared to 39,203 incidents in 2023.

The Peace and Order Index, which includes cases of Theft, Physical Injury, Robbery, Rape, Murder, Carnapping, and Homicide, also decreased by 122 incidents or 3.37%, from 3,616 in 2023, to only 3,494 this year.

Likewise, Peace and Order Non-Index Crimes or Special Laws such as RA 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) and RA 9262 (Violence Against Women and their Children Act) decreased by 204 incidents or 1.58%, from 12,931 in 2023, to only 12,727 in 2024.

Meanwhile, the Public Safety Index or cases related to traffic laws decreased by 1,363 incidents or 6.02%, from 22,656 in 2023, to only 21,293 in 2024.

“These numbers not only show our efforts, but also the impact of the unity and discipline of our colleagues in the police force and the entire community. Our implemented peace and order operational framework of Enhanced Police Presence (EPP) + Quick Response Time (QRT) + Counter Action Against Drug Groups, Criminal Gangs, and Private Armed Groups (CADCP) = Safe Region 3 (SR3) is also of great help in the significant decrease in crime,” Maranan said.

Maranan also encourages the public’s continued support for PRO3’s programs and campaigns.

“We cannot accomplish this achievement alone. The cooperation of every citizen in reporting suspicious activities, participating in community-based crime prevention programs, and maintaining discipline is essential to ultimately maintaining order and safety in our region. Together, let us make Central Luzon a safe and peaceful home for all,” he added.
