ANGELES CITY — Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. on July 4 led the administration of Vitamin A supplements to 178 kids aged 5 years old below in two barangays here.
Lazatin was assisted by City Health Officer Dr. Verona Guevarra, Rural Health Unit Physician Dr. Cristine Joy Patio, Nurse Supervisor Evelinda Mariano and the City Nutrition Office led by Jermaine Jam Aguila during the house-to-house sabayang patak of Vitamin A.
“Tuloy-tuloy po ang mga ibababang health services natin sa mga bara-barangay. Layon po nating maproteksyunan at paunlarin ang kalusugan ng bawat kababayan natin,” Lazatin said.
A total of 86 kids were visited in Barangay Cutud and 92 in Pulung Cacutud, Aguila said.
Aguila shared that there are a total of 20,280 kids from the 33 barangays set to receive Vitamin A.
The visit in the remaining barangays will be via schedule.
According to Aguila, this is part of the city government’s celebration for Nutrition Month with a theme “New Normal king Nutrisyun, sama-samang gawan ng solusyun.”
Dr. Guevarra meanwhile said that the same kid-beneficiaries of the Vitamin A also received their deworming last June.
Part also of the celebration is the distribution of the Pusong Mamon, the city’s own version of healthy buns made of malunggay.
This is to continue the campaign of the city government to end malnutrition.
The creation of Pusong Mamon is being supervised by Lazatin’s Chief Adviser IC Calaguas and Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel, in partnership with Giada’s Bakery.
To complement this, the Hotels and Restaurants Association in Pampanga also donated 500 nutribuns to the city government.
To recall, Mayor Lazatin provided free vitamin supplements and deworming vaccines to more than 4,000 children in the city in 2019, while 12, 297 kids in 2021.
