173 SENIORS IN 14 ANGELES BARANGAYS VISITED BY CONG POGI

ANGELES CITY, Pampanga – As of February 5, 2026, Pampanga First District Representative Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. has visited a total of 173 senior citizens in 14 barangays in this city to personally deliver P2,000 financial assistance, Vitamin C supplements, five kilos of rice, and free medical check-ups, funded out of his own pocket.

Lazatin started visiting senior citizens in Angeles City in November last year and, to date, he has been to Barangays Agapito Del Rosario, Anunas, Claro M. Recto, Cuayan, Lourdes Sur, Lourdes Sur East, Margot, Mining, San Nicolas, Sta. Trinidad, Sto. Cristo, Sto. Rosario, Tabun, and Virgen Delos Remedios.

“Masayang-masaya kami pu at mekapagpayabut kayu pung saup kang Mother. Dakal pung salamat at sana pu marakal kayu pa pung asaup a mamamayan na pu ning Angeles, Congressman,” said Janet Muñoz, daughter of Candida Muñoz, one of the senior citizens visited by Lazatin.

“Pasalamat ke pung dakal anggang makananu mu agaganaka dala anggang makanyan no reng matua,” said Jun Canlapan, nephew of Purita Canlapan.

Lazatin is set to visit the remaining 19 barangays in Angeles City in the following days.

It can be recalled that back in March and July 2025, Lazatin also visited 372 bed-ridden elderly, aged 90 to 99 years old, in Mabalacat City and 258 in Magalang Municipality.

As Mayor of Angeles City, Lazatin has been known for his accessible, ‘door-to-door’ delivery of public service, regularly visiting the barangays to personally deliver social services, including free inoculations and vitamins for children, and free medicines and social pension for senior citizens.

Now as legislator, Lazatin continues to champion the welfare of senior citizens.

On July 29, 2025, Lazatin filed House Bill 2422, which mandates the establishment of at least one ‘Bale Pusu’ home for the elderly in all cities and municipalities in the country, prioritizing elderly citizens who have been abandoned, left on the streets, or have no families or kin to take care of them.

The proposed elderly home is patterned after the Bale Pusu Home for Abandoned Female Elderly first established in Sta. Teresita, Angeles City on September 15, 2021, during Lazatin’s term as City Mayor.

On October 2, 2025, Lazatin also filed HB 5068, which seeks to provide a universal social pension amounting to P2,000 per month – regardless of their income, civil status, health condition, or residency.
