1,650 Angeleño kids to receive libreng tuli

ANGELES CITY — The city government here under the leadership of Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. will start the simultaneous free circumcision of 1,650 kids aged 9 and above, starting on July 3, 2023 at the city’s six Rural Health Units (RHUs).
 
Mayor Lazatin will personally visit the RHUs in Barangays Pulung Cacutud, Pandan, Lourdes Sur East, Sto. Domingo, Lourdes Northwest and Balibago to oversee the libreng tuli.
 
“Inaanyayahan ko po ang mga magulang na ipatuli na ang kanilang mga anak simula July 3. Ito po ay libre at pawang mga professional doctors, at nurses po ang magtutuli,” Lazatin said.
 
The registration for the free circumcision is still ongoing until June 29, 2023, at the Gender and Development Office, Monday to Thursday, from 8 AM to 5 PM.
 
GAD Officer-in-Charge Mina Cabiles said the parents or guardians should bring the birth certificate of the kids.
 
In addition, City Health Officer Dr. Verona Guevarra emphasized that only children aged 9 and above will be the main beneficiaries of the program. 
 
Thirty midwives, nurses, and doctors from CHO will lead the operation ‘tuli’, scheduling 50 kids to be circumcised per day in each RHU.
 
Meanwhile, Chief Adviser IC Calaguas said that the preparation for the Operation Tuli has taken place for almost two months.
 
Calaguas said this is in pursuit of the main goal of Mayor Lazatin to provide accessible health care to all Angeleños especially the indigents.
 
“Ito pong libreng tuli ay gagawin natin sa mga RHUs simultaneously,” Calaguas furthered.
 
Further, Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel said that the kids who will undergo free circumcision will receive a home care kits which include Vitamin C supplements and medicines for the circumcision. 
 
Manuel mentioned that aside from the health care operations, medicines under the RHUs are accessible to everyone, anytime.
 
To recall, a total of 3,228 kids benefitted from the free circumcision program in 2022.
 
The free circumcision program was first launched in Angeles City during the stint of Mayor Carmelo “Tarzan” Lazatin from 2002 to 2007.
