The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) – Nueva Ecija 2nd District Engineering Office (DEO) showcased its awareness and preparedness during the 2nd Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) held on June 28, 2024.
The drill commenced at precisely 2:00 PM with the sounding of the alarm, and all employees immediately followed the prescribed safety measures of ducking under a sturdy table, covering their heads, and holding on until the shaking subsided.
According to District Maintenance Engineer Ramil Ramos, participating in the quarterly NSED ensures that personnel are prepared to respond effectively during an actual earthquake, minimizing panic and confusion by emphasizing safety measures.
Ramos also expressed his appreciation to all participants and stressed the importance of continuing to work diligently to enhance emergency response strategies and ensure preparedness for any future events.
β€œDrills such as NSED prepare individuals mentally for the stress and chaos that can accompany an earthquake, improving their ability to stay calm and focused,” Ramos highlighted.
The nationwide drill was organized by the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) and the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).
