Kindergarten pupils at San Isidro Elementary School (SIES) in Zaragoza, Nueva Ecija now have access to new, spacious, and safer classrooms, following the completion of a one-storey, two-classroom building by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

According to Nueva Ecija 1st OIC-District Engineer Jun Vana, the P4.95-million structureโfunded through the Department of Educationโs (DepEd) Basic Education Facilities Fund (BEFF)โfeatures play areas to enhance early childhood learning, a ramp for persons with disabilities (PWDs), and a handwashing station with 10 faucets to promote hygiene.

ย
โThe new facility supports a better learning environment for 50 kindergarten pupils, helping improve their focus and participation in class,โ Vana said.

ย
SIES Principal Maricel Sagat shared that the previous classrooms were rendered unsafe due to termite infestation, structural damage, and vulnerability to floodingโissues that worsened during the pandemic, leading to the closure and evacuation of the affected rooms.
ย
ย
โTalagang conducive to learning po itong dalawang building dahil mayroon po silang play area at mas malaki po ang mga silid dito kumpara sa dati nilang classroom, lalo naโt naka-house po dito ngayon ay mga kinder pupils,โ Sagat expressed.

ย
The new classrooms not only address the school’s urgent infrastructure issues, but also support its mission to provide a safer, more engaging, and higher-quality early childhood education for its growing student population.
