Kindergarten pupils at San Isidro Elementary School (SIES) in Zaragoza, Nueva Ecija now have access to new, spacious, and safer classrooms, following the completion of a one-storey, two-classroom building by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
ย
ย
According to Nueva Ecija 1st OIC-District Engineer Jun Vana, the P4.95-million structureโ€”funded through the Department of Educationโ€™s (DepEd) Basic Education Facilities Fund (BEFF)โ€”features play areas to enhance early childhood learning, a ramp for persons with disabilities (PWDs), and a handwashing station with 10 faucets to promote hygiene.
ย
ย
โ€œThe new facility supports a better learning environment for 50 kindergarten pupils, helping improve their focus and participation in class,โ€ Vana said.
ย
ย
SIES Principal Maricel Sagat shared that the previous classrooms were rendered unsafe due to termite infestation, structural damage, and vulnerability to floodingโ€”issues that worsened during the pandemic, leading to the closure and evacuation of the affected rooms.
ย
ย
ย
ย
The new classrooms not only address the school’s urgent infrastructure issues, but also support its mission to provide a safer, more engaging, and higher-quality early childhood education for its growing student population.
