DPWH R3 kicks-off 18-day Anti-VAW campaign

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) – Regional Office III launched an 18-day campaign to end Violence Against Women (VAW) during its weekly flag-raising ceremony on November 25, 2024, organized by the Gender and Development Focal Point System (GAD-FPS) in coordination with the Human Resource and Administrative Division (HRAD).

DPWH R3 Assistant Director Melquiades Sto. Domingo emphasized the campaign’s importance in creating a safer environment for all, running from November 25 to December 12, 2024.

“This campaign isn’t just about raising awareness. It’s about taking action to build a society where women and children are free from fear and violence,” Sto.Domingo said.

To symbolize their commitment to a VAW-free workplace, women employees signed a Pledge Wall, a public declaration reinforcing the agency’s stance against gender-based violence and encouraging a culture of respect and equality.

The 18-day campaign, themed “UNiTEd for a VAW-free Philippines: VAW Bigyang Wakas, Ngayon na ang Oras!,” aligns with Republic Act 9262, the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act of 2004.
